Isin LG Partners Private Sector To Increase Revenue
Alhaji Maruf Thani, the Chairman of Isin Local Government Council in Kwara, says the council has entered into public-private partnership in meaningful ventures to increase its revenue.
Thani disclosed this on Monday while speaking with newsmen in llorin.
He said the measure was aimed at increasing the council’s revenue base to make it less dependent on monthly allocations from the Federal Government.
The council chairman said that the initiative would be a way of delivering democracy dividends to the people.
“My administration has keyed into public- private partnership as a veritable means of finding a lasting solution to the shortage in funding,” he said.
According to Thani, his administration has creditably fulfilled its electioneering promises of improving the infrastructure and developing the education, health, road and transport sectors.
The Chairman said that modalities had been put in place modalities to boost economic activities in the local government through viable initiatives in agriculture.
He also said that the council had carried out empowerment and vocational training programmes for youths and women.
Thani, a former Special Assistant to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Budget Implementation, assured that all projects, started by the council, would be completed in due course in spite of financial challenges.
He called for patience and support of the people to allow the dividends of democracy to get to them.
Thani said the council would soon commence commercial garri production as a way of making more food available, accessible and affordable to the people in the area. (NAN)
