The Kwara State Government yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a private company for the management of parking facilities along major roads in Ilorin, beginning with Upper Taiwo Road, as pilot scheme.

The new parking arrangement is to allow orderliness and free flow of traffic, create employment for the citizens and serve as source of revenue for the state.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Works and Tranport, Alhaji Alabi Amuda charged the company, the Platinim Parking Service limited to involve all the stakeholders and ensure proper take-off of the scheme.

Responding, the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Segun Olarewaju thanked the state government for the opportunity given to them to partner with the state government and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them.
