Kwara 2013: Niger shines in football
Niger State U-15 Boys' team yesterday tore apart their Kano State counterparts with an emphatic 7-1 win at the going National School Sports Festival in Ilorin.
The result of the match played at the Kwara State Sports Complex was recorded as the highest margin so far among the participating teams, and a signal to other teams participating in the competition to be wary of the Niger team.
Taraba held Rivers to a 1-1 draw in another match for the U-15 Boys. In the handball event, host Kwara State defeated Oyo 24-4 in the Girls' U-13 category, while Sokoto State defeated Niger 13-5 in the U-13 Boys.
The finals of the U-13 Girls and Boys will come up today in a second leg tie between the aforementioned teams who were the only states that registered in that category. In the U-15 Girls handball, Imo State defeated hard-fighting Kano by 12-9.
Handball action will continue today at the venue.
