Date: 2012-04-23

Vice-President Namadi Sambo yesterday led a Presidential delegation to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital to commiserate with the Belgore family over the death of the wife of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Alfa Belgore, Alhaja Fatimoh Belgore who died last Thursday at the age of 70.

The Vice President was accompanied to the Belgores' family house on Emir's road, Ilorin by the governors of Bauchi and Gombe States, Isa Yuguda and Ibrahim Dakwambo respectively and former governor of Gombe State, Sen. Danjuma Goje, as well as Senator Bukola Saraki, the immediate past governor of Kwara State.

President Goodluck Jonthan in a message read on his behalf by the Vice President described the death of Alhaja Fatimoh Belgore as a great loss to the country noting that the nation would miss her a lot.

The President prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest while urging the immediate family of  Alhaja Fatimoh to accept her death as the will of Almighty Allah.

Responding, the former CJN, Justice Alfa Belgore who appreciated the visit of the presidential delegation described the death of his wife as the ‘losts to his defense' which she had being since he married her in 1956.

The former CJN attributed his 85 percent achievements to his late wife, stressing that for the entire years he spent on the bench, he was able to spend three years with her after his retirement before she gave up the ghost.

He said that his family would forever remember the recognition  President Goodluck Jonathan's administration accorded it and prayed to Almighty Allah to guide the President in the running of the nation's affairs.
