'Kwara Assembly never under pressure to pass executive bills'

Date: 2012-04-12

The Kwara State House of Assembly Chairman, House Committee on Ethics, Privileges, Public Service and Judiciary, Kamaldeen Fagbemi has said that the House is never under pressure to accept or pass bills from the executive. Fagbemi, who spoke in Ilorin yesterday, said such requests are considered without fear or favour.

On the N10 billion sought by the state government, he said the loan was obtained to complete all on-going projects in the state. He said the immediate past administration of Dr. Bukola Saraki applied for a bond of N30 billion, but that only N13 was accessed.

Fagbemi added that the Appropriation Committee of the House is presently investigating the accounts of 16 local government areas in the state to ensure accountability and encourage development at the grassroots.
