Sharks compound Kwara United relegation woes

Sharks football club of Port Harcourt today compounded the relegation woes of Kwara United football club just as league leader Sunshine Stars FC of Akure maintained their grip of the top spot in the on- going Nigeria Premier League.

Sharks recorded its first away win of the season through Christian Pyagbara goal in the 24th minute of the game against host Kwara, inside the Ilorin Township stadium.

Kwara were not luck to level up in the 44th minute of the game as Dare Ojo could not score from a spot kick.

In Akure, table topper Sunshine Stars defeated Bayelsa United FC 2-0 to push their points to 33 with goals from Kingsley Eduwo and Tunde Adeniyi in the first minute and 69th minute of the game respectively.

Wikki Tourist moved to the second position with a 2-1 victory against El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri in Bauchi with Mubarak Umar breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute through a pass from Uche Martins to send the home fans into wild jubilations.

Wikki got their second goal in the 57th minute through a spot kick converted by Chukwudi Samuel while Sunday Adetunji reduced the tally for the visitors in the 84th minute of the encounter.

Heartland FC of Owerri defeated Dolphins FC in their adopted home in Oba 3-1 to move from their sixth position to the fourth place with 28 points.

Collins Nwaneri registered his name on the score sheet in the 4th minute of play to put the Naze millionaires on the driving seat, Dolphins equalised in the 53rd minute through Godbless Asamoah goal.

Bright Ejike was on song in the 78th minute as he beat Dolphins goalkeeper roundly to score his tenth goal of the season and the second of the day for Heartland while an added time goal by Emeka Ogbuh gave the Owerri side the 3-1 victory.

In Warri,Enyimba FC lost to host Warri Wolves FC 2-1 with Super Eagles star Gbolahan Salami scoring in the 43rd minute of the game, Enyimba equalised a minute later through a spot kick taken by Christian Obiozor after Wolves’ defender Onamado had handled the ball in the box,Abu Azeez ensured victory for the host in the 65th minute as his effort sailed into the net for the match winner.

In other matches, Abia Warriors FC were 3-1 better than FC Taraba in Umuahia,3SC humbled Giwa FC 3-0 in Ibadan,Akwa United pipped Kano Pillars 1-0 in a match Theophilus Afelokhai in goal for Pillars was the team saving grace as he dived, parried and stopped all the frontal attack of the home side. Rangers defeated Lobi Stars 3-1 in Enugu just as Nasarawa United were forced to a one all draw in Makurdi by Ifeanyi Ubah FC.
