Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, is expected  as special guest of honour at the closing ceremony of the National Karate Championships holding in Ilorin tomorrow.

The three-day national championships began yesterday with over 500 Karatekas from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT competing for honours.

The event taking place at the Ilorin Township Stadium according to THISDAY checks is organised by the Karate Federation of Nigeria and sponsored by its president, Chief Agu Ejidike.

Speaking with sportswriters in Ilorin yesterday on the event, the President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria, Ejidike said that the competition was a fulfillment of his promise during his campaign to head the federation.

Ejidike promised that the national championship will become an annual event on the calendar of the federation. He therefore reiterated the federation’s commitment to raise the standard of Karate by introducing  refresher courses for  coaches, referees and Karatekas to improve their knowledge of the sport.
