KWSG resolves NUJ crisis ...validates Abiodun-led SWC
Following the intervention of the Kwara State Government on the current crisis rocking the state Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), the government said that the state Working committee led by Mallam Abiodun Abdulkareem still remains in office.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the chairman and secretary of the verification team set up by the government, Bintal Abubakar Mora and Abayomi Adeniyi respectively.
The statement stated that the resolution were reached at the end of a parley convened by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, represented by his Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comrade Bisi Fakayode.
Other resolutions, according to the statement, were that all parties concede to the intervention of the government through the Special Adviser in Labour Matters'
"That a verification team be put in place to ascertain the status of the insurance scheme funds covering all practicing journalist in Kwara State."
The parley appreciated the quick intervention of the state government in resolving the current crisis in the NUJ Kwara Council.
"The parley also notes with appreciation the concern of the National Secretariat of NUJ in the matters and assures the headquarters of the union that an amicable resolution has been reached," the statement read in part.
