Kwara police merge vigilance groups for effectiveness

Date: 2013-07-15

The Kwara State Police Command has called on the people to partner with it in order to combat crimes in the state.

The Commissioner of Police Mr. Agboola Oshodi- Glover, made the call at the weekend while unveiling the consolidation of all vigilance groups in the state into one body to be known as the Kwara State Security Information Network (KWASIAN)

Oshodi-Glover also launched an Information Guide which will assist the people on how best to collaborate with the police in the business of fighting crimes and make life and property save.

According to him, police require information from members of the public at all time for effective discharge of their duties.

The police chief said his command would not rest on its oars to fight crimes, adding that flash points had been marked and are constantly being raided to rout criminals.

Oshodi-Glover explained that the fusion of the vigilance groups into one body would make the job of policing Kwara State smoother, effective and better coordinated.

He, however, said that the suspected armed robbery gang that killed a medical doctor; Dr. Ariyo Adewumi, earlier in the year in his home in Ilorin, the state capital had been arrested and charged to court.
