Merger: Kwara CPC,ANPP warn members against impostors

Date: 2013-06-26

Kwara State chapter of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) have warned members of the parties and general public against some unauthorised people going round the state with merger talks.
The State Chairmen of the parties, Alhaji Suleiman Buhari and Alhaji Taiye Eleja, in a jointly signed statement made available to newsmen in Ilorin maintained that the parties dissociated themselves from sponsored people who are moving round the state all in the name of merger.

"We equally have it on good authority that these same elements, and their sponsors, have been going about cap in hand, soliciting financial support on behalf of our parties from unsuspecting party candidates, supporters and well wishers, ostensibly to fund the purported merger moves.
"The leadership of our parties hereby dissociates itself from the curious self-serving moves of these impostors. We state, with all sense of responsibility, that these elements are nothing but sponsored agents of their paymasters in the ruling party, who have, time without number, shamefully proven to be the bane of progressive politics in Kwara.
"We therefore urge our party members not to be deceived by the antics of these reactionary agents, whose stock in trade is to cause disaffection in the ranks and files of our parties."

The parties however urged its members not to do anything that would derail the formation and merger of APC in the state stressing that all stakeholders would be carried along as events unfold.
