The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the body of a 52-year-old man, Alaba Ayeni, from a domestic well beside Lamp Bearers Islamic School, off Asa-Dam Road, Ilorin.

The service said firefighters responded to the distress call at about 8:42am on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, after children in the community discovered the man inside the well and alerted nearby elders. The body was recovered and handed over to DPO Bolaji of Budo-Nuhu Police Station for further action.

The Chief Fire Officer, CFS Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to properly cover domestic wells and other open water sources to prevent accidents.

He also advised parents and community leaders to ensure children are not left unattended around wells, drainage channels and other hazardous areas.
