Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, is poised to become a leading destination for polo sports and leisure tourism with the formal unveiling of the Kwara Horse Club and Resort, a state-of-the-art equestrian facility located at Ogele in Asa Local Government Area.

Speaking at the Guild of Digital Journalists (GDJ) Monthly Interface, the Chief Executive Officer of the club, Muhammed Gobir, disclosed that the facility is fully equipped to host national and international polo tournaments as a registered member of the Nigeria Polo Federation.

He revealed that apart from Kano and Kaduna, few states currently organise polo in Nigeria, and the Kwara Horse Club is ready to fill that gap and place Ilorin firmly on the polo map.

Gobir said the club will create employment opportunities for Kwarans through training in horse riding, care, grooming, and feeding, while the resort features a hotel, horse lounge, viewing galleries, and massage centres for guests.

He noted that the facility is strategically located near the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport and guaranteed maximum security.

The CEO further explained that the club will supply well-trained horses for the annual Ilorin Durbar and urged horse owners across the state to patronise the facility for professional maintenance to prevent chronic diseases and untimely death of their animals.

Gobir acknowledged the immense support received from sponsors and partners, expressing confidence that the Kwara Horse Club and Resort will drive sports development, youth empowerment, and economic growth in the state.
