Deputy Governor Alabi Praises Dr. Arowona's Media Vision During Landmark Visit To Emirate 98.5 FM
The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi, has reaffirmed the state government's commitment to press freedom, stating that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq does not harass bloggers or journalists.
Speaking during a courtesy visit and interview at Emirate Radio 98.5 FM with host Adeshewa Owolabi, the Deputy Governor emphasized that while the government respects the role of the media, practitioners must ensure their reports are grounded in verified facts and credible evidence.
To highlight the dangers of misinformation, Mr. Alabi cited several false allegations previously leveled against him, including claims that he engaged in excessive drinking, wore only white attire for ritual purposes, or was a member of the Ogboni fraternity. He dismissed these claims as completely untrue, noting that such "fake news" can damage reputations and social harmony.
"I urge the people of Kwara State to always stay tuned to Emirate Radio," the Deputy Governor said, while also conveying the Governor's greetings to the residents. He used the platform to reassure the public that the state government is working tirelessly to tackle security challenges and improve the lives of Kwarans.
Mr. Alabi concluded his visit by commending the founder of Emirate Radio, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, for his contributions to the state's media industry. He described Dr. Arowona's dedication as a model for others to follow in the pursuit of professional excellence and community development.
