Oro-Ago Development Union Condemns Bandit Attack That Killed Community Leader
A group, the Oro-Ago Development Union (ODU), has strongly condemned the dastardly acts of kidnapping and killing in the community.
Reacting to the attack on the community by armed bandits on Thursday, the union in a statement issued on behalf of the Oloro of Oro-Ago Kingdom, Oba Johnson Olarewaju Dada expressed profound shock and deep sorrow over the tragic kidnapping incident that occurred in the community on Thursday, which led to the death of a community leader, Chief David Depo Aina (also known as Kebe).
The union described "the cruel and barbaric act as not only an attack on the deceased and his family, but also an assault on the peace, security, and dignity of our entire kingdom."
"We condemn in the strongest terms this heinous crime and call on the relevant security agencies to immediately swing into action to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice without delay."
The union also urged government at all levels to redouble their efforts in addressing the rising insecurity bedeviling communities, adding "Our people deserve to live in peace and go about their daily activities without fear.
"On behalf of the Oloro-in-Council and the entire Oro-Ago Kingdom, we commiserate with the bereaved family and pray that Almighty God grants them the fortitude to bear this painful loss," the statement added.
ODU said it remained committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure the safety, security, and progress of Oro-Ago Kingdom.
