NNL Resumption: Timothy Boniface Confident of Victory Against Gateway United

Date: 2025-04-04

Ahead of the Nigeria National League (NNL) second stanza resumption, Timothy Boniface, captain of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (Ilorin) Football Club, has expressed confidence in his team's improved performance, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The squad is set to face Gateway United at Ijebu Ode's Dipo Dina Stadium this weekend, with Boniface affirming their determination to secure a victory on Saturday to kickstart their campaign for a Super Eight finish.

"This second round we are putting up our best and hope that everything will go well for us," Captain Boniface said in an interview with ABS Ilorin media after Thursday's training.

"It wasn't an easy task for us in the first round due to some little mistakes. We want to correct the mistake this second round." He affirmed.

Boniface revealed that he has spoken to the players, and everyone is committed to giving their best.

"If we gave 70 percent in the first round, this second round we want to give 120. Because we don't want to get relegated this time around. We want to compete for the Super 8."

Currently, ABS Ilorin FC sits in seventh position, but Captain Boniface is hopeful that they will end the second round in first or second place.

"Looking at the position we are in now, we are in seventh position now before end of this second round, we believe and trust God that we are going to end first or second with our best. We trust ourselves that we are going to give our best for the second and make it to super Eight," he concluded.
