Kwara TESCOM Shortlists 5,928 Applicants for Teacher Recruitment Interviews
A total of 5,928 applicants have been shortlisted by the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) for interviews as part of its ongoing recruitment drive for senior school teachers.
In a statement released on Monday morning, TESCOM Chairman Mallam Bello Taoheed outlined the cutoff scores and interview schedules for the recruitment exercise. For non-STEM subjects, the cutoff score is set at 60% for Kwara State indigenes, while non-indigenes must achieve a minimum of 70%. However, candidates from Baruten, Isin, Oke Ero, and Patigi local government areas will be assessed against a lower cutoff of 50%, to ensure adequate representation from these regions.
Additionally, all applicants from Kaiama and those with disabilities (PLWDs) have been automatically included in the interview list.
The interviews are scheduled to commence on February 25 and conclude on March 1. Candidates are advised to check their application status via the official recruitment portal to confirm their eligibility and prepare accordingly.
“The cutoff for all Kwara State indigenes who applied to teach STEM and STEM-related subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer, and Geography is 50%. This is to accommodate as many STEM subject teachers as are required to give our children across the three regions a good head-start in these core areas,” he said.
“However, all the 93 applicants from Kaiama Local Government Area are invited for the interview/screening exercise. This also applies to the (37) PWLDs who sat the CBT.
“The cutoff for all non-indigenes is 70% across all subject areas.”
The commission asked all the applicants to check the recruitment portal for their status, saying the interviews and screenings will hold between Tuesday February 25 and Saturday March 1, 2025 at the Kwara State University International Conference Centre and Kwara State Banquet Hall from 8a.m. prompt.
“The venue for the interviews and screenings fixed for Tuesday through Thursday is the KWASU International Conference Centre behind Ayoka Filling Centre, Sango, Ilorin, while the venue for Friday and Saturday will be the State Banquet Hall,” the statement said.
The interview/screening will be held in this order.
