Kwara State Government Acquires Digital Survey Equipment
According to a news report from Royal News, the Kwara State Government has received commendation for its acquisition of advanced digital surveying equipment for the Office of the Surveyor General of the State.
ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman, the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KW-GIS), praised the government's initiative during the presentation of the ultra-modern survey equipment to Surv. Ibrahim Mohammed Alhaji, the State Surveyor General, in his office.
According to the Agency Chairman, “the State Government has spent huge sums of money in acquiring the equipment. Therefore, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has fully changed the face of KW-GIS, particularly Office of the Surveyor General. In view of this, I urge the management and staff of Surveyor General's office, to make effective use of the new equipment, for the good of the state.''
In his response, the State Surveyor General, Surv. Ibrahim Mohammed Alhaji noted with gratitude that, the purchase of the equipment by the State Government is a great succour to his Office, adding that, this giant stride by Governor AbdulRazaq's led administration will go a long way to further digitalise Survey Department and afford Surveyors in the State Civil Service, to compete favourably with their counterparts, in other States of the federation.
While applauding the peoples' Governor, Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq, for the great gesture, recalled how the Surveyor General's Office captured survey data without such sophisticated equipment and saluted the dogmatic efforts of the State Government, for fulfilling its electoral promises in all sectors of the State.
Stressing further, the SG said; “this development affirmed Governor AbdulRazaq's interest at making sure that this administration is very much prepared to take the survey profession in the State, to greater heights.
“I therefore assure the State Government of my staff's readiness to reciprocate this gesture, by working round the clock, to ensure that survey activities in KW-GIS are being carried out more effectively for the purpose of optimal performance and outputs.”
Surv. Ibrahim who, highlighted the mandates of his Office to have included: Initiation, formulation, execution, monitoring and evaluation of Government policies used the avenue to disclose the newly procured survey equipment to include; Hi-Target V200 GNSS RTK Receivers (Diffirential Global Positioning System {GPS}: 3 Units), Hi-Target V90 GNSS RTK Receiver with Base Accessories (Diffirential Global Positioning System {GPS}: 1 Unit; and DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise {3E} including RTK Module (Drones: 2 Units).
Those in attendance at the presentation were the Administrative Secretary, Mrs Motunrayo Adaran, Heads of Units and other principal staff of Surveyor General's Office.
