...say prompt evacuation of refuse, illegal dumpsites guide against epidemic

Residents of Ilorin, Kwara State capital have lauded the efforts of the state government over the evacuation of illegal dumpsites at different areas in the metropolis.

The residents said the timely evacuation of waste and illegal dumpsites have helped immensely in guiding against epidemics in various localities in the metropolis.

Recall that the government through the Ministry of Environment has been evacuating illegal dumpsites while admonishing people to dispose of responsibly and charging waste managers to patronize the only legal dumpsite in the metropolis at Sokoto Ayekale.

After evacuating the illegal dumpsite at Admiralty Drive, GRA, residents could not hide their joy saying the gesture has restored normalcy in the community.

Speaking with the Facility Manager of a school site at the area, Leeroy Montessori School, Mr Oluwatobi Olaniyan thanked the Commissioner of the ministry, Mrs Remilekun Banigbe for swinging into action and saving them from possible epidemic.

Oluwatobi Olaniyan said the site was an eyesore as it was always messy and smelling whenever one is passing by, saying now, the place is neat and beautiful again.

He said the evacuation will not only beautify the area but make it healthy for the residents especially the students of the school and even promote their business because parents who were scared away by the smelly site can now enrol their children at the school.

Also, a resident, Bolaji Aladie confessed that the evacuation is an effort that must be commended as it restored sanity to the axis, describing the idea as timely.

Aladie charged the people to cooperate with the ministry as it's putting its best to ensure the state is neat and tidy.
