38-year-old woman's corpse recovered from Asa river in Kwara

The Head of Media and Publicity at Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, says that the corpse of a 38-year-old woman has been recovered from Asa river along Ibrahim Taiwo/Emir Road in Ilorin metropolis on Tuesday morning.

The late woman's body, according to him, was found under the bridge on Emir Road in the early hours of the Tuesday.

The fire service spokesman, who confirmed the incident, said the corpse was handed over to the state Police Command in Ilorin.

Adekunle said, "This evacuation operation was carried out about 07:48hrs this morning at Asa River along Emirs Road in Ilorin, Kwara State, just after the people in the vicinity had noticed a human body floating on the river."

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident, adding that the Command had commenced investigation on the incident.
