213 patients in Ija-Isin community benefit from Kwara State NMA free medical outreach

Date: 2021-07-15

At least 213 patients from the rural communities in Kwara State have benefited from the annual free medical consultations and lab investigations carried out by the members of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Kwara State chapter.

The Deputy Chairman of the body, Dr. Adedayo Aderibigbe disclosed this during the annual medical intervention designed for the poor and less privileged rural dwellers at Ijara-Isin community, Isin local government area of the State.

Aderibigbe said the intervention was meant to assist the rural dwellers and also prove to the government at all levels that a lot of medical interventions can be carried out in the primary healthcare centres across the State if more hands were employed.

Aderibigbe however noted that about eleven patients had general surgeries while seven had cataract excision which he said was common in the area being an agrarian community of aged.

A father of a five-year-old boy who undertook surgery and spoke in the local Yoruba language said that the gesture will go a long way in restoring the heath of his son and that of other beneficiaries in the community.

The medical practitioners however advised the federal and state governments to fund all the primary health care facilities across Nigeria to bring quality health services closer to the rural dwellers.
