Kwara Govt reacts to sit-in by social workers

Date: 2020-01-20

The Kwara State Government has noted a sit-in today by some social workers engaged by consultants to keep parts of Ilorin, the state capital, clean. For emphasis, these social workers are not government's workers.

Regardless, the government is speaking with the consultants on the issues of salary arrears that the consultants are owing the women to ensure that the same is paid soon.

However, the administration is very displeased with the services of the consultants and may soon review the contract the consultants had with the past administration.

For the record, His Excellency has had to set up an ad-hoc committee of patriotic Kwarans who have been helping to keep the city clean. The consultants were being paid from public coffers without the public getting value for their money. This cannot continue.

Finally, the community workers will definitely have their money paid very soon by the consultants while all pending issues are resolved.

Architect Mohammed Saifudeen

Hon. Commissioner for Environment, Kwara State.
