Kwara youths call for end to APC crisis

Date: 2019-11-25

CONCERNED youth stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have called on leaders of the party to meet and find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis rocking the party.

It is recalled that political leaders in Kwara APC and their followers had engaged in a crisis of interest in the last six months, resulting to dissolution and factionalization of the ward, local and state executives of the party.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin at the weekend, coordinator of the group, Comrade John Adegboye, said that the APC youth, drawn from various political camps within the party, had resolved henceforth, to stop various engagements promoting crisis within themselves.

"This gathering became necessary in view of the observed crisis of interest currently engulfing our party in Kwara State. Sadly, we are yet to see concerted efforts by those much older than us and leaders of thought within the party that is geared towards finding a lasting solution to the crisis.

"As young members of the party who have sacrificed as much, if not even more than some of our older colleagues in the party, we have decided to take it upon ourselves to sue for peace and call for a dialogue. We are doing this in view of the reality that 'A Kingdom divided against itself can never stand'.

"On this note, we are appealing to our fathers, uncles, mothers, aunties, brothers and sisters, who are actors in the crisis bedevilling our party, to for God sake, sheath their swords and observe a ceasefire. We appeal to you all to in the name of Almighty God and for the interest of peace, stability and development in our state: to jettison every action, sentiments and statements capable of promoting crisis within the Kwara State chapter of the APC.

"We are suing for peace so that our governor and our party can concentrate squarely on the governance of the state so that the dividends of democracy shall be delivered to Kwara citizens as promised by our governor and our party during the build-up to the general elections this year.

We are also pleading with our Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak. We are of the express opinion that the solution to this crisis lies squarely in your court. As the leader and image-bearer of APC in Kwara State, we enjoin Your Excellency to use your good office to convene a meeting in which the stakeholders and you will sit together to address the knotty issues precipitating this crisis.

"Your excellency sir, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, it is within your capacity. We must remind your excellency that your ability to resolve this crisis will be used to measure your capability to govern this state. You cannot afford to fail this test just bearly six months into your tenure. We will on our part continue to pray for you that Almighty God grant you wisdom, knowledge and understanding required to resolve this crisis, he said.
