Kwara Inaugurates Committee to Tackle Power Failure in Communities

Date: 2012-09-06

In its bid to ensure that the dividends of democracy gets to the grassroots, Kwara State government has set up a committee to investigate the causes of events that threw Bubo, Lade, Lafiagi and Patigi, communities all in the Kwara North senatorial district into total darkness with the mandate to submit the report within one week.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the state executive council meeting held at the government house, Ilorin, the senior adviser to the state governor, Dr. Muideen Akorede, noted that the state government can no longer afford to wait for the federal government's action on the matter.

He further stressed that whatever the cost, the council has resolved to rescue the people of the areas adding that it has also mandated the committee to work along with the ministry of energy.

Headed by the head of service in the state, Alhaji Muhammed Dabarako, the committee is expected to investigate the actual cause of the nine-month total blackout in the four communities and proffer lasting solution.

Akorede however pointed out that the Ajese-Ipo/Erin Ile road which has not been motor able for a while would be rehabilitated by the Kwara State Road Maintenance Agency, KWARMA before FERMA's intervention.

Also speaking, Alhaji Dabarako disclosed that the council also resolved to establish State Council of Establishment which would be an advisory council to the recruitment of staff at the local government and other administrative activities.
