Date: 2018-06-02

A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia, has commiserated with the Ilorin Emirate Council over the demise of Balogun Ajikobi of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammed Issa Jimoh.

He said the news of the death of one of Ilorin's king makers came to him as a big shock.

In a statement issued in Ilorin yesterday, Ajia, founder of Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim (MAI) Foundation, described the transition of the Balogun Ajikobi as a tragic moment that would not pale into insignificance so soon.

He described the late kingmaker as a respected peaceful and easy going figure, who demonstrated high level of maturity in affairs of Ilorin Emirate council before his demise

The PDP governorship hopeful particularly condoled the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, members of the Emirate Council, family of the deceased and all Ilorin indigenes for what he called "painful exit of one of the important pillars of Ilorin Emirate tradition.

Ajia prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the Balogun Ajikobi of his shortcomings and inadequacies while on earth and admit him to Janat Firdaus.

"I received with total shock and sadness the transition of our father, High Chief and Balogun Ajikobi of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Muhammed Issa Jimoh, to the world beyond. It is a tragic moment that would not pale into insignificance so soon. It is indeed one death too many for the people of Ilorin Emirate.

"On account of this, I commiserate with the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari; the entire members of the Emirate's Cabinet, the family of Balogun Ajikobi, all indigenes of Ilorin Emirate and indeed all Kwarans for this tragic loss of our father.

"I'm not unaware of the fact that the people of Ilorin Emirate are all in grief and in mourning mood but we must always remember that all souls must taste death. I therefore pray to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased of his shortcomings and inadequacies while on earth and admit him to Janat Firdaus", founder of MAI foundation said.

Jimoh, who was the 11th Balogun Ajikobi of llorin, died in the early hours of Wednesday at the age of 72 after a brief illness and had since been buried in line with Islamic injunctions.
