Members of the National Association of Kwara State Students, Kaduna Polytechnic chapter have called on the Federal Government and state governments to ensure quick evacuation of students during crisis in any institution in the country.

In a statement in Ilorin, Kwara State on Friday by NAKSS' Kaduna Polytechnic Representative, Audu Agaka and Public Relations Officer, Issa Aliyu, the group said the measure would save students' lives and properties.

They stated that as future leaders and hope of the country, more efforts and investments should be made to protect students' lives and welfare.

They commended the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, his wife, Omolewa, and the officials of the state government for the evacuation of 75 students during the recent crisis in Kaduna State and for their interests in the welfare and growth of students in the state.

They also appealed to Ahmed to ensure prompt payment of bursaries to students from Kwara State in tertiary institutions. They also appealed to him to award scholarships to students in various institutions to boost their welfare and intellectual achievements.

"We do not pray for any other crisis, but if circumstances warrant such in any institution or state, we seek for quick intervention in order to rescue the lives of students involved.

"We also implore the governor to promote, protect and develop the interest of Kwara State students as he promised during the 2011 governorship campaign in the state. This can be achieved by prompt payment of bursary and award of scholarships to Kwara State students in various tertiary institutions to boost their welfare," the students said.
