Date: 2017-02-20

A Local Government management consultant and Educationist, Mallam Aliyu Badmus has called for the granting of full autonomy to local governments in the country to make them more efficient and accountable to the electorate and the rural dwellers.

He made the call while answering questions on a Radio KWARA personality interview programme Playing Host.

Mallam Badmus said the administrators at the local government councils should be able to decide on projects that would suit or benefit their environment and the people rather than states or federal government to decide on the type of projects that they should embark upon in their domains.

According to him, they should be allowed to enjoy the autonomy as entrenched in the constitution as the third tier of government but however, lamented that some caliber of people given the responsibility to administer the councils have little or no knowledge about administration.

The management consultant therefore cautioned against imposing candidates on the electorate during elections but rather, allow people to pick leaders of their choice.

Answering another question , Mallam Badmus blamed some of the past Nigerian leaders for the present recession the nation is facing stressing that corruption was made a state programme and called for such altitudes to stop if the country must get out of her economic crisis.

The management consultant who is the Proprietor of Iqra Group of schools in Ilorin and treasurer of Sadaqah and Zakat Majlis for Islam, condemned the indiscriminate killings by some group of people explaining that insurgency and violence are not part of Islam.

Mallam Badmus disclosed that the Sadaqah and Zakat Majilis for Islam which was established in nineteen ninety six (1996) is meant to assist indigent Muslims who are sick or those who have serious economic challenges and announced that hundreds of people have been assisted through the funds raised by the members of the organization.
