The Kwara State House of Assembly's Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad, has reiterated the House commitment towards development of sports in the state.

The Speaker made the statement w?hen newly sworn-in executives of Sports Writers' Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State branch paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Monday.

Represented by Deputy Speaker, Mathew Okedare, Ahmad ?said sports importance could not be over-emphasised as it is one of ways with which government could reduce ills in society.

Lamenting decay of facilities at the State Stadium Complex, he pledged that the House would work assiduously through its Committee on Sports to fast track the arena's rehabilitation as provided for in 2016 budget.

Also, the Speaker maintained that total overhauling of sporting facilities would undoubtedly restore the stadium's lost glory and further assist to ?bring out hidden talents among youths.

Ahmad however encouraged multinationals and philanthropists to further assist government with a view to improving Nigerian sports. Earlier, the SWAN Chairman, Abdulwaheed Bibire had said the association was eager to work with the House and Ministry of Sports and Youth Development to achieve desired result in the sector.
