New DG of NBC has 37 years experience in broadcasting

The Federal Government has appointed new Directors-General for six parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Information to replace those disengaged service in February this year.

Mr Is'haq Modibbo Kawu is the New Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission. His appointment takes effect from May 25, 2016.

Up till his appointment, Mr. Is'haq Modibbo Kawu was the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Abuja-based Word, Sound and Vision (WSV) Multimedia Limited, a complete media service outfit that cuts across print, radio, television, internet, as well as event marketing, marketing communications and training.

Mr. Kawu has 37 years of broadcasting experience straddling both radio and television. He was among the pioneer staff of Radio Kwara and was the pioneer General Manager of Kwara State Television Service, Kwara TV. Widening his horizon, he had a stint with Radio and has reported for international broadcasters including Nigeria Radio France International, Radio Netherlands and BBC World Service.

The New DG of the NBC was also a prolific contributor to the print media environment with regular columns in the Vanguard and Leadership newspapers. Mr Kawu also held the position of the Editor of Daily Trust Newspaper, and later Chairman of the Editorial Board of the same paper.

Mr. Ishaq Modibo Kawu holds a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication and a Masters degree in Political Science from Bayero University, Kano. The New NBC Director-General is from Kwara State, North-central Nigeria, and he is married with children.
