Chieftains of the rul­ing All Progressives Congress, APC, in Alanamu, Ilorin West Lo­cal Government Area of Kwara State are now set to fight dirty among them­selves over the choice of a commissioner to repre­sent them in the state gov­ernment.

APC had last month re­quested each of the 16 local government areas in the state to field three nominees out of which one would be selected for appointment in the state cabinet.

The party had warned that such nominees must reflect representations of the women, youth and par­ty loyalsts.

It would be recalled that immediately Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed was re­turned elected for a second term, APC leader in kwara State and Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, who is also the governor’s godfather had declared that only the governor and his wife were sure of their po­sitions in government.

He dismissed any feel­ings by individual mem­bers, no matter how influ­ential, to get easy patronage from the government by way of appointments.

However, in Alanamu Ward in Ilorin West, home of Saraki, the choice of who to nominate had become a war among party members with Hon. Moshood Musta­pha, a former member of the House of Representa­tives on one side and the rest of the other members on the other side.

Mustapha was said to have imposed one Mr. Ab­dulrasaq Abosioyeniyan on the members as his choice to become commissioner calling the bluff of mem­bers reported to be elders of the party in the ward.

The electronic as well as print media in the state were awashed with the bluff of the former federal lawmaker, who was to have told aggrieved APC mem­bers “to go and wait for their time.”

The matter as at the time of filing this report yester­day was still a contentious issue in the area engender­ing local tension.
