Why Buhari'll floor Jonathan in Kwara - APC
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has said President Goodluck Jonathan will lose this year's presidential election due to his failure to fulfil the campaign promises he made to the people of Kwara State in 2011.
The party urged the people of the state and Nigerians to vote en masse for its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, saying he had the competence, credibility, capacity and capability to lead Nigeria in the path of sustainable peace and development.
In a statement issued in Ilorin yesterday by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the APC urged Kwarans and Nigerians to vote against failed leaders.
"Quite unfortunate is the fact that the catalogue of promises President Goodluck Jonathan made to the people of Kwara State on February 22, 2011 absolutely remain as promises in 2015.
"President Jonathan pledged that the irrigation project in Shonga would be completed to boost commercial farming activities; promised to end discrimination along ethnic and religious lines; tackle poverty; agricultural transformation of Kwara State; rehabilitation of the nation's railway system; rehabilitation of the Ilorin-Mokwa Road; complete Lagos to Jebba rail project; deliver stable, constant supply of electricity; ensure that Nigerians do not use generators more than two times in a week; create jobs; start two development projects in Kwara State; revitalize ailing industries and grant loans to farmers.
"It should be noted that after four years, none of these promises has been fulfilled by President Jonathan. We have not assessed Mr President by international best practices but by his record of campaign promises. The vast majority of Kwarans voted for President Jonathan in 2011 because they desired the fulfilment of the promises Mr President made. What has Mr President given Kwarans in returns? Nothing.
"We challenge President Jonathan to tell Nigerians why he has failed to fulfil his promises to the people of Kwara State despite the huge resources at his disposal? What have Kwarans done to deserve total neglect from the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration? Since it is glaring that Mr. President has a catalogue of unfulfilled promises in Kwara State and other states of the nation, Mr. President should tell Nigerians why he should not be voted out of power on February 14?
Meanwhile, the party has urged the Federal government to pay the over N4 billion the Kwara State Government used to rehabilitate Ilesha-Baruba-Chikanda international border road and Federal road projects across the state.
