Saraki to use pension for scholarships
The Senator representing Kwara Central and former governor of Kwara State, Dr. Bukola Saraki, is to fund a scholarship scheme for indigent students in tertiary institutions in the state from his pension.
Sakari said over the weekend during the celebration to mark his 52nd birthday that the scheme tagged: "ABS Education Support Foundation" was his birthday present to people of the state.
Speaking with newsmen after a special prayer session to mark the birthday, Saraki said since he completed his tenure as governor, he had not received his pension, adding that he would channel it to the scholarship scheme to assist indigent but brilliant students in higher institutions in the states.
He said a committee would be set up in conjunction with the tertiary institutions to effectively manage the scheme, which would benefit over 100 students annually.
