Date: 2014-06-10

The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ambrose Aisabo, has said that no fewer than 2,000 police officers would be deployed for the visit of a former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar to Kwara State on Tuesday.

Abubakar is scheduled to inaugurate the newly renovated and remolded Ilorin General Hospital on Tuesday.

Aisabo, who spoke through the command's Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, said the command had taken proactive measures to ensure that there was no violence during the visit.

"2,000 police officers are to be deployed in the state. We are putting into consideration all the security situations in the country. We are leaving no stone unturned, though Kwara is a peaceful state," Aisabo said.

Also the Public Relations of Officer of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Mr. Abdulkadir Olanrewaju, said the command would deploy no fewer than 300 of its personnel for the visit.

He said, "Uniform and undercover civil defence officials would be on ground to ensure the safety of the former Head of State and peaceful inauguration."
