Emir of Ilorin, Saraki mourn Ado Bayero

Date: 2014-06-07

The former governor of Kwara State, Dr Bukola Saraki has expressed shock over the demise of the emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero. Saraki described the late monarch as a great ruler whose contributions were instrumental to the positive development and growth of Kano State, northern Nigeria and Nigeria as a whole.

Also, the emir of llorin, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, has described the demise of the emir of Kano as a great loss to Nigeria.

Sulu-Gambari who spoke through the Magaji-Nda of llorin, Alh Salihu Mohammed, regretted that the monarch died when his wisdom was needed for the progress and development of the country.

The traditional ruler said the achievements recorded in social and economic development in Kano during the reign of the late emir were unprecedented.

Saraki, in a condolence message, described the late emir “as a traditional and religious leader whose roles are not limited to only social and religious spheres of life, but also extends to

experimental touch and advice on political, economic and peaceful co-existence of all as Nigerians, irrespective of religion, ethnic or regional affiliation.

“In a larger view, assessing Nigeria’s historical progression and long walk as a nation from 1960 till date, it’s sufficiently impossible to undermine the input of a leading traditional ruler as the late Emir of Kano. Not only will he be missed, but the wealth of wisdom conveyed by his articulate presence as a father, playing advisory roles will be deeply missed.

“Even though, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ado Abdullahi Bayero has departed from the world, his virtues, beliefs and principles will remain indelible forever.”
