Comply with govt's free education policy, Principals charged

Principals of all Secondary Schools in Kwara State have been charged to ensure compliance with the non-school fees regime introduced by the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration across the state.

The President, All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Kwara State, Mr. Kuranga Omomeji gave the charge while clarifying issues on the level of compliance to the new policy.

Omomeji explained that ANCOPSS has not received any report that school principals collected official fees from students except the PTA levy ofN250 only.

According to him, the PTA levy was founded on the internally and collectively endorsed agreemen t by the PT A and that all principals were directed to send all students who failed to pay such levy.

He also clarified that other levies being paid by the students in some schools include the PTA project development levy as endorsed by the PTA to prosecute certain devlopment projects on any of the affected schools.

The state ANCOPSS President, however, appealed to the state government to ensure adequate prvision for proper maintenance and effective administration of all affected schools accross the state.

Omomeji, who is also the principal of Baboko Comunity Secondary School, Ilorin, advocated supervision and monitoring of private schools to curb examination malpractice in the state.
