Opinion: A Rebuttal of Alleged Peace Overtures by Prof. Oba Abdulraheem. By Abdulrahman S. Oladimeji (Talba Solidarity Forum)
Our attention has been drawn to the syndicated news published in the newspapers and online alleging that Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem has gone to "beg" the former Governor of Kwara State and the self acclaimed leader, Dr. Bukola Saraki. This is to categorically denounce the rumour as untrue, false in its entirety and a pipe dream of its sponsors and to reassure the teeming supporters of Talba who are disturbed by such malicious rumour to be rest assured that the rubicon is crossed and the TALBA shall not abandon their collective desire to lead Kwara State out of the present precipice of political rascality and deceit, to the promised land.
One cannot but wonder why the desperation to have Talba back in their fold as shown by the persistent messages sent to him. Please recall that prominent Kwarans (including members of the Ilorin Emirate Council) who are believed to be loyal to the so-called leader, had been lured into the conspiracy to blackmail Prof. Oba Abdulraheem at different times. All these moves however, were roundly rebuffed by Talba, even when he had not been re nominated by Mr. President, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Does it make sense to any discerning mind that he will now crack down when he has been re-nominated, screened and the report laid before the Senate for confirmation? In any case, if truth is the claim, why did Talba not follow the said leader to Ilorin for the charade called Local Government election held on Saturday, 26th October, 2013, just like his other followers?
Meanwhile, since Sen. Saraki still considers himself the Alpha and Omega of Kwara Politics, we beg him to please continue to lobby as fiercely as he has been known to do since the beginning of this re-nomination issue against the confirmation by the Senate of the Presidential nominee to the position of Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, so that we can delineate where man's influence stops and where God's Will begins.
Our advice to the estranged politician is for him to face his self inflicted political tribulations, especially the recent death of multitude of hapless and innocent citizens of the State in his house and the unanswered questions with the EFCC and SFU.
