'GOVT WILL RETAIN KWARA UNITED TECHNICAL CREW'
Kwara State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hajia Ramat Abaya, has disclosed that the government would retain the technical crew of the state-owned Kwara United which was relegated from the Nigeria Premier League last week.
She said the government would do all it could to convince members of the crew to stay at the club.
Abaya, who stated this in Ilorin, also said that majority of the current players would be retained in a bid to ensure the club's quick return to the country's elite football league, assuring the people of the state that their darling team would bounce back sooner than expected.
The Commissioner commended the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed for the support given to the team and all that supported the team during the out gone season.
She disclosed that plans are already in place to return the darling team of Kwarans back to the Glo Premier League next season and also called on the supporters and fans of the club to learn from what happened to the club in the last season.
She noted that there are plans to embark on education of fans of the club, especially to intimate them that "the game is either win or lose".
Abaya called on the fans not to be allowed to be used to foment troubles during and after matches.
It would be recalled that Kwara Utd until week 29 was in contention for the league title before their fans attacked an official in a game involving the club and Warri Wolves in Ilorin in August.
