ASUU Warns Unilorin Against Sharing N987m Allowance

The University of Ilorin got the said amount as part of the N30bn released by the federal government to pay earned allowances to university staff.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) today warned the authorities of the University of Ilorin not to share the  N986.7m earned allowance disbursed to it by the Federal Government until the ASUU strike is over.

The Zonal Coordinator of ASUU Ilorin Zone, Dr Ayan Adeleke said the ASUU chairman of the Unilorin branch Dr. Taiwo Oloruntoba-Oju had already conveyed the position of the union to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Abdulganiyu Ambali.

The union said the struggle for funding, is still ongoing warning that Universities should not betray the struggle by disbursing the earned allowances until the struggle is over.

It was gathered that workers in the university of Ilorin early today met with the university management over modalities for the sharing of the Institution’s share of the N30bn disbursed to universities by the Federal Government.
