Kwara, ABS in Ilorin derby
Kwara United and Abubakar Bukola Saraki FCs will set Ilorin Township Stadium on fire today as the two clubs fight over supremacy in Kwara football. Kwara United are one of the high-flying sides in the section so far this season.
The Afonja Warriors are sitting third on the league log with just five points separating them and the leaders, Kano Pillars. They have racked up 32 points and seven points better than their local rivals who are sitting in distance 17th place on the log. Kwara United ended the first round of this campaign on a bright note following strings of impressive results and seem to have continued from where they left off as they secured another vital away point in Ibadan on Wednesday when the second stanza kicked off. They held Shooting Stars to a 1-1 draw and would rely on that inspiration to crush their neighbours. But the coach of the team, Samuel Unuanel told newsmen that there was nothing special about the game insisting that they would approach it like any of the 20 matches they have played so far this season. We are looking forward to the match like every other game we have played this season. ABS are our brothers and I hope it is going to be a brotherly affair. We would go there and play our match and try to win the game, he said.
