Chairman Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Senator Smart Adeyemi and  the Kwara House of Assembly are in serious disagreements over alleged blockade of a stream occasioned by the former's investment, Royal Shekina Suites, an hotel located in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

It was gathered that the House, while treating a matter of urgent importance had directed the management of Senator Adeyemi's hotel to explain why its earlier directive on the construction of a car park of the hotel along Offa Garage Road was flouted.

The House had earlier allegedly halted the construction that blocked the easy flow of water in the stream leading to flooding during the last raining season, pending the outcome of investigations into the project.

Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abdulrasaq Atunwa gave the directive during the raising of a matter of urgent public importance to explain how the management of Royal Shekina Suite contravened the resolution of the House by refusing to remove a perimeter fence that had blocked water flow along Atikeke community.

The House also directed the State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr. Abubakar Kannike and his Director of Civil Engineering, and officials of Town Planning and

Development Authority to appear before the House to explain their involvements in the contravention of the House resolution ordering the stoppage of the project.

Speaking on the issue, Hon. Abdulganiyu Abdulkareem, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy, Works and Transport, said that the House had passed a resolution directing the management of Royal Shekina to stop the project since October last year.

According to her, the order followed letters of complaint to the House by the Atikeke Community.

The lawmaker however calmed the nerves of protesting members of the community whose properties were grossly damaged last year. They had stormed the House complex carrying placards with series of inscriptions over the matter.
