Don Advocates Death Penalty for Corrupt Officials
The Head of Department of Business Law, University of Ilorin, Prof. Mohammed Akanbi, has called for death penalty against any public official found guilty of corruption in the country.
Akanbi made the suggestion an interview in Ilorin on Monday. He said that the death sentence would restore normalcy to governance in the country.
Akanbi, who was a former Chairman of the Ilorin branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), also advised Nigerian leaders to lead by example.
"Leadership by example is what Nigeria needs to fight corruption, government officials must not be seen living ostentatious and flamboyant life styles. Assets of officials must be declared before assumption of the office and upon exit for reconciliation. Any political office holder found guilty of corruption should be sentenced to death or life imprisonment." He said.
