The Kwara State Government yesterday began this year's promotion test for over 2,500 workers. The examination is billed for Tuesday and Wednesday this week and is being conducted through participants' Android phones.

Speaking with The Nation on the sidelines of the exercise in Ilorin, the Chairperson of the Kwara State Civil Service Commission, Hajia Habibat Yusuf, said about 1,300 workers took part in the test yesterday, adding that over 1,200 would sit for theirs today.

She said the oral interview would start on October 5.

Yusuf said the use of Android phones would make the test easier for the participants.

She urged the participants to be "up and doing, steadfast, loyal and dedicated."

Acting Head of Service (HoS), Dr Olufunke Shittu, said the state had moved away from analogue, adding that digitalisation had come to stay in the civil service.

"My advice to civil servants is for them to upscale their knowledge. The programme is an assessment of competence of officers who are moving from lower grade levels to higher ones."
