Senator Oloriegbe Reaffirms 2027 Governorship Ambition, Denies Endorsing Any Candidate

Date: 2026-05-22

Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has refuted insinuations circulating in certain quarters in recent days suggesting he has either withdrawn from the 2027 Kwara State governorship race or endorsed another candidate's bid.

"I wish to state clearly and unequivocally that there is no truth whatsoever in such claims," he said in a statement issued on Friday.

Oloriegbe affirmed that he remains fully committed to contesting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket, adding that he has not endorsed any aspirant.

According to him, his decision to contest is anchored on a sincere conviction regarding the future of Kwara State and the necessity of providing experienced, competent, and inclusive leadership to propel the state to greater heights.

"With the rescheduling of the party's governorship primary election to this morning, I hereby call on all my supporters, delegates, and progressive-minded members of our great party across the state to come out en masse to vote for my candidacy," he said.

The lawmaker also urged all participants to remain peaceful, orderly, and law-abiding throughout the exercise. "Our strength as progressives lies in our commitment to democracy, fairness, and unity of purpose," he said.

Oloriegbe expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, solidarity, and encouragement received across the state, and urged people to remain resolute and hopeful.
