Kwara Police Arrest 10 Suspects in Kidnapping, Homicide Cases Amid Vigilante Collaboration
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects linked to kidnapping, illegal firearm possession, and culpable homicide, underscoring intensified efforts to combat crime in the state.
Speaking to journalists, Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo stated: "We will not relent in our mission to rid Kwara of criminals. Our officers remain steadfast in pursuing justice with diligence and integrity."
Key arrests include a notorious kidnapping kingpin and fugitive on the police watchlist, apprehended in Ajase-Ipo by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS). During a routine surveillance patrol, the Police Tactical Team (PTT), alongside a Kaiama sector vigilante commander, intercepted a group of suspects and recovered a locally made dynamite explosive, a paramilitary-style operational jacket, and other dangerous items.
In a separate case, five suspects were arrested for the murder of Alhaji Kazeem on farmland in Oreke. The victim's two kidnapped sons were rescued during the operation. Commissioner Ojo confirmed that efforts to dismantle the kidnap syndicate are ongoing.
"Also, police arrested a suspect in connection with the burglary of a house in Ilorin and recovered 16 mattresses of the victims. Operatives arrested four suspects for an armed robbery incident at a residence in Tanko, IIorin and recovered a motorcycle, electrical cables, weapons and industrial gas cylinders.
"Police arrested a suspect who allegedly impersonated a client and diverted N8million worth of cement meant for delivery in Ilorin. He also coordinated the fraudulent operation and disappearance of a truck of cement.
"Police intelligence arrested eight suspects in the tragic incident, where a two-month-old baby was declared missing in Ilorin and was later found dead. Police are investigating the circumstances of the heart breaking homicide."
