Date: 2022-09-22

Magistrate Adam Mohammed of an Ilorin Magistrate Court, has ordered the remand of three suspects accused of drugging and raping an 18-year-old girl in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

The suspects, Boluwatife Oluyemi, 23; Samuel David, 23; and Kudus Waheed, 18 were arraigned before the court on a two count charge of criminal conspiracy and rape contrary to section 97 and 283 of penal code law.

The First information report, FIR, revealed that the victim Saka Latifat while she was on her way to visit her friend, Saidat, a tricycle driver later identified as Oluyemi stopped her to enter into his tricycle but she declined.

While Oluyemi was trying to force the victim to enter the tricycle, other defendants, David and Waheed came around to join him to force Latifat into the tricycle and zoomed off thereafter.

It was gathered that the defendants later forced the victim to take some tablets which made her sleep off after which she woke up experiencing some pain in her private part and stomach ache.

Police investigation revealed that the victim, Latifat could not ascertain who among them had sexual intercourse with her due to her state of unconsciousness.

However, medical report obtained from Police training school clinic Ilorin revealed clinical evidence of sexual abuse but vaginal coitus could not be ascertained.

Magistrate Adam Mohammed, in his ruling, ordered the suspects to be remanded at the Federal Correctional Centre, Ilorin.

The trial judge adjourned the matter till October 18,2022 for further mention.
