Kwara Assembly passes 14 bills

Date: 2021-06-11

Kwara State House of Assembly says it has passed a total of 14 bills in the last two legislative years.

The House under the same period also said that it considered 29 reports while 32 motions were moved with resolutions passed on them.

Speaking during a special plenary marking the second anniversary of the ninth legislature in the state in Ilorin on Thursday, the Speaker of the House, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, said the lawmakers have always ensured that consideration and passage of all bills, especially, the appropriation bills confirmed with the yearnings of the people and as well met international standard.

"The House has also ensured that all Bills and other legislative functions affecting key sectors such as health, education, social security, youth employment and job creation, land and housing, commerce, women affairs, people with disability, child rights, works and transport, etc. received the desired attention.

"Also, we did not leave provision of infrastructure solely in the hands of the Executive as we facilitated in our various constituencies, construction of classrooms and health facilities, sinking of boreholes, the opening of rural roads, etc., under the Grassroots Development Project, an initiative of the present administration in the State that commenced in 2020.

"All the projects under this initiative have been completed and delivered for the use of our people.

"I must admit that the feats recorded by this 9th Legislature in the last two years in office are as a result of the dedication, loyalty and zeal of the management and staff of this Assembly under the Clerk. The crop of staff.

"Today is indeed a historic day in the life of this 9th Legislature in Kwara State. It is significant because it marks the completion of the first half and the beginning of another Legislative year," he said.
