Kwara PDP accuses APC of scuttling its programmes

Date: 2018-01-29

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state has accused the state House of Assembly of being nervous over the performance of the party in its bid to change the face of politics in Kwara state.

This came in response to the resolution of the Kwara State House of Assembly on ban of partisan political live progamme.

In a press release made available to newsmen today, signed by the party's publicity secretary Chief Rex Olawoye, said the opposition is so intense that the Kwara statehouse of assembly which has all its members from the ruling All Progressive congress uses the medium to rescue the party's government in the state.

The party stressed that many unsuccessful attempts has been made in the past to stop partisan live programme on radio saying the development have positive effects on the political enlightenment of the people and has exposed Kwarans to their legitimate right.

The Peoples Democratic Party recalled that the government attempt was made when the All Progressives Congress reported the party to the Kwara state Police Command alleging that the party was inciting the people against the government.

The party added that the next tool the government wants to use is the Kwara state House of Assembly by passing a resolution and directing the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice to ensure the delivery of their resolution to the National Broadcasting Commission.

The PDP concluded that it wondered whether the state House of Assembly is aware of the Nigerian constitutions stand on freedom of speech or whether it wants to assume the role of the NBC to censor the activities of broadcast media houses
