Unilorin VC Contestant Expresses Dissatisfaction With Selection Process
My attention has been drawn to the publication on the contest for the post of Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin published in The Nation on Sunday on July 29, 2012.
As one of the contestants, I was present at the meeting referred to in the publication.
The meeting was called at the instance of the Vice-Chancellor to formally inform the critical stakeholders of the decision of Council on the appointment of a new Vice -Chancellor.
To put the record straight, at the meeting, many of the contestants reacted to the process of selecting a new Vice-Chancellor for the University as follows:
- The selection process was not credible.
- It was not based on merit
- It has ethnic coloration
- It was manipulated to favour a desired candidate.
It is necessary to let the world know this fact.
Thank you.
