Kwara Moves to Contain Suspected Cholera Cases

The Kwara State Government says it has put in place measures to contain the spread of suspected cholera in parts of Ilorin, the state capital.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold disclosed this today while speaking with newsmen during the on the spot assessment to primary health care centers, cottage hospitals and the General Hospital, Ilorin.

Alhaji Gold, who led the government’s delegation to assess the situation, said the government had deployed resources to ensure that cholera does not spread in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government said the government had begun sensitisation of the public on the need for personal hygiene and environmental sanitation. Alhaji Gold announced that the government has supported hospitals with necessary drugs to contain the disease.

Corroborating, the State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Atolagbe Alege said the Ministry had deployed both human and material resources needed to the cases are localized and treated.
