KWHA to Hold Public Hearings on Revenue Court, Revenue Administration Next Week

The Kwara State House of Assembly would on Tuesday 15th March, 2016, and Wednesday 16th March, 2016 conduct Public Hearings on the Bill for a Law Establishing the State Waste Management Agency, State Revenue Administration Amendment Bill 2016 and the State Revenue Court Amendment Bill 2016.

In a statement signed by the Director of Information, Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr. Sunday Adeleke said the Public Hearings would assist the Lawmakers in enacting enduring and people-oriented laws.

The Public Hearings according to the statement would be declared open by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ali Ahmad and would be held at the Committee Room 213 by 12 noon prompt on each scheduled day.

It added that the Public Hearings would serve as avenues to allow the Stakeholders, and the general public to make inputs and as well guide the House in enacting laws that will stand the test of time.

Stakeholders expected at the Public Hearing on the Waste Management Agency are Ministries of Environment and Tourism, Justice, Finance, Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, Kwara State Waste Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA), Town Planning and Development Authority, Nigerian Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and Nigerian Bar Association.

Similarly, the statement further added that stakeholders expected at the Public Hearing for the Establishment of the State Revenue Court Amendment Bill 2016 and the State Revenue Administration Amendment Bill 2016 include Ministries of Planning and Economic Development, Commerce and Cooperatives and Finance, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, Bureau of statistics, Trade Union Congress, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Nigerian Labour Congress, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Union of Journalists among others.

It however, appealed to all relevant stakeholders involved to be present at the Public Hearings as their views and recommendations would in no small way assist the House to come up with laws that will have positive impact on Kwarans and general publics.
