The Kwara State Polytechnic has introduced a character formation and value orientation course for its students.
The Director, Directorate of Students Services, Mr Gboyega Adewoye stated this while answering questions from VON correspondent in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
According to him, the introduction of the course is part of the efforts by the schools to make students worthy in character and learning.
Mr Gboyega said new biometric automated software had been designed to identify every student of the institution.
He explained that the new identity card for the students has a lot of securities components that would be difficult to reproduce.
Responding to a question on the late registration fees, the Director said the late registration had been removed and that registration is still on until the management takes its final decision on the issue.
Mr Gboyega maintained that no additional fee was charged for the damages caused during the last crises, as the repairs were being handled by the institution.
On the issue of security, Mr Gboyega said the management is collaborating with relevant security agencies and the host communities to ensure adequate security of lives and properties of the students.
Mr Gboyega stated that the school session has been extended to enable the students cover their curriculum, stressing that the school is a centre of excellence and would not produce half- baked graduates.
The Director, who explained that the management was working on a structural development in the school, said plans were under way to build more hostels through partnership with private individuals.
